There are many types of Dubai visa for Indians. One of these is the transit visa. Generally, a transit visa is obtained if you are stopping over at Dubai on your way to a final destination. In most destinations you will not be able to leave the airport while transiting – however, the Dubai visa is different! You can explore the city on this transit visa as well.
Types and Documents Required for Dubai Transit Visa
There are two types of Transit visa in Dubai – the 48-hour and the 96-hour ones. For both of these visas, you will need to go through your respective airline (eg. Emirates or Etihad). To obtain your visa, there are also some documents which you will need:
- Passport – Your passport details are mandatory to apply for this transit visa (or any Dubai visa). It must have two blank pages, and must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from your date of departure from Dubai. This means that if you are exiting Dubai on 10th February, the date of validity on your passport should be on or after 10th August of the same year.
- Photograph – You should keep 2 recent colour photographs of yourself. These must be submitted to the visa application center upon request. You should not crop your photograph from the one that is in your passport – this is not allowed. Please make sure that your photographs are not black and white, as the center only accepts colour photographs.
- Flight Tickets – You will need to show proof of travel to another country after your exit from Dubai. This will need to be in the form of round-trip tickets (arrival and return). Make sure you keep a hard copy of these while travelling so that you may show them to Immigration authorities upon request.
- PAN Card – If you are an employed/self employed individual, you will need to show proof of identity and employment in the form of a PAN card.
Anything Else I Need To Know?
Sometimes, you might be asked for more documents to prove that you are fit to transit through Dubai. However, this is not standard and is dependent on the individual case. Therefore, please keep in mind that the visa company might (or might not) ask you for more documents, as per orders given from the Dubai Visa Authorities.
Another amazing thing to note about the Dubai transit visa for Indians is that the 48-hour visa is free of cost. Both types of transit visas are not extendable, which means that you cannot change a 48-hour visa into a stay for 96 hours.
There is one condition for obtaining a Dubai transit visa – you will need to have a gap of at least 8 hours between your two flights. This means that the departure time from Dubai should be 8+ hours from the time of your arrival into Dubai International Airport.
